Hey there,

Can you all tell me how much time needed

before you felt that you could handle going back to work?

Thanks,

Marie

Hey Marie,

I really think this is different for everybody. I know people that went back 1 week after surgery because they felt so great. I feel good right now (6 days post surgery) and go back next Monday so I will have 2 weeks off in total but im strongly considering asking my doctor for a third week. I dont have a job that will strain me or anything but I dont feel like I will be at my 100% by next Monday. Standing too long hurts a bit and walking too far gets uncomfortable. Really depends in my opinion.

Hi Marie,

I was just sleeved Nov 3rd in TJ, and I went straight back to work the day after I got back which was the 8th. I feel great, I still have some pain if I laugh or cough or sneeze, or take a bumpy car ride, but nothing unbearable. I do get tired, so I take a short nap in the afternoons if I can, but I think it depends on each individual person. Good luck to you!

Marie

sorry chic - no exact time period for everyone - also take into account what kind of job you have, whether its an office job - heavy lifting - factory - standing all day

not to mention that "maybe" your surgeon "insists" you stay home a certain time period per his orders

we all react differently to WLS (or any surgery)

some people go back to work quickly, a few days, or a week after WLS - they might be a bit tired - but they feel they can go back to work

others might start off working 1/2 day's the first week

some people are more tired/weak - need more time to recuperate

looks like you are pre-sleeve????

your body will tell you when "its" feeling ok, to go back to work, don't rush it!

too early for marathon races

how did you like my "definite" non-committal answer - sorry bud

good luck

much success with WLS

speedy recovery

you'll love the long venture to health and happiness for the rest of your longer life :)

speedy recovery

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
