Weekend Away Had Me Reverting Back To Old Habbits

Recommended Posts

Ben & Jerry's, crackers, cheese, peanuts, bacon and eggs and worst if all - drinking with meals in restaurants! Oh and lots and lots of wine. Still lost a pound. Feel like crap and really full but find my mind wondering what I can eat. Not hungry at all just mindless habit of hand to mouth. Wish I had a lollipop.

I've been doing the same thing this weekend. I'm only about 6 weeks post op, had my 1 month follow up last week with nurse & NUT. The nutritionist didn't really tell me there was anything I couldn't eat at this point, other then no hard, crunchy taco shells, chips, etc. So, I've been doing things I know I should NOT be doing. Snacking on things here & there in between meals, like crackers, made some banana bread today, tried a little of that, etc. I'm wondering if I'm one of those people I've read about on the boards here that have the "sleeve of steel", where nothing you eat seems to bother your sleeve. While it is nice that I haven't had anything yet that's made me sick, or feel like I'm gonna be sick, I almost wish I would be more bothered so I'd stop doing things I know are bad habits, and just stupid, after everything I've gone through to get to the point I"m at now, and it's only the beginning of my post-op life. So, I totally understand about old habits coming back, guess it's time to just get back on track! ;)

Bkz3 we are going to do this! A slip is only bad if not corrected. Back on the wagon as of now! Also wasn't getting nearly enough Water. You and I have to pick a goal for tomorrow and check in with each other at end of day. Tomorrow my goal is to get 70 grams of Protein. What is yours?

My goal is to stick with my 1200 calorie diet tomorrow. 60 grams of Protein and 64 oz. of fluids. I'm at the high end of my bounce range and want to be back at goal.

OK, jennrus - sounds like a deal! My goal will be to get in my 64oz. of liquid in, and to get more Protein in! (I have been doing terrible at getting in even 50g a day and I need to be at 64 g, minimum). So, back on the wagon, lets check in tomorrow!! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
