cmaloney 151 Posted November 11, 2012 I don't know about you, but ever since my sleeve (9/17), period was heavy & lasted longer than usual. Another thing I noticed is a week before I'm due, my sleeve is super-sensitive to everything I eat, no matter what it is...happened last month & it's happening now. Anyone else? bkz3 17 Posted November 11, 2012 I haven't experienced the sleeve being sensitive, but the first period I got after surgery, it was heavier and longer then usual, but it was my first period post birth control pills, since I had to stop taking them before surgery. Now I'm waiting to get my next period so I can get back on my pills and hopefully have a more regulated cycle again. I know for me that every since I gained a lot of weight (back when I was about 15 years old), my cycle was not regular anymore and was always super heavy and lasted 7 days. So I think as we lose weight, our bodies are trying to get back to a more "normal" cycle, so it might be all over the place for a while.
doxieville 799 Posted November 11, 2012 Yes, this is actually common. You can do a search on here for it. Our fat also stores hormones, so as we lose the fat, hormones get released. You may also find that your skin breaks out. Many of us went through a few months of pimply faces!!
2ajsSkinnyMaMa 1 Posted November 11, 2012 Omg I'm so glad I just read this!! I haven't had any period issues (yet) but my face has been SOOOOOO broken out! Glad to hear it should pass, I'm one month post op!
doxieville 799 Posted November 11, 2012 Yep! I'm 51 and my face looked like a teenagers for a few months! It wasn't fun. I'm 3 months post-op and my skin is all cleared up again & periods normal. I'm sure menopause is right around the corner though....
shayv123 96 Posted November 11, 2012 I was actually going to post something similar. This is my first real period this year, I spotted in April and the beginning of the year. I stopped birth control March 2011, so this is throwing me off. I did have the nexplanon inserted the week prior to surgery, so we don't have any surprises until we are ready. So, all of this is normal to have a cycle week 3 after surgery?? Sleeved 10/24/12 Sent from my iPad using VST
