cali4nan 5 Posted November 11, 2012 I was sleeved on 10/23, I had no complications (knock on wood), getting my Water and Protein in, gas was decreasing, somewhat regular BM,, pain was steadily decreasing. However, yesterday the pain became worse and steadily increased. Today was no better and it got worse. I went in to my PCP, (who btw had bypass be same surgeon), from there I was sent to the ER (at surgeon's request). They gave me pain meds which only took the edge off the pain and conducted CT scan. They said no leak, no hernia. The CT scan was all clear. So they are thinking it is muscular pain (only hurts when I move), and sent me home with more pains meds. I am very relieved it was nothing serious; however, I am curious if anyone else has experienced anything like this?
michelle1112 20 Posted November 11, 2012 I was sleeved 11/5 so still pretty fresh out, but I've been feeling great but I have the same pain, I just woke up from a deep sleep cause of the excruciating pain. And the pain is when I sit up or lean on that side... It's the incision the stomach came out of and I know it was going to hurt but sheeeesh lol
humnopnop 8 Posted November 11, 2012 I too am having the same pain. It's on my left side, not excruciating but nonetheless a sharp pain as if someone is poking me. It's only better when I lay in it to some degree. I try to lay on my back as much as possible but with this pain I often end up on the left side.
attractiveval 36 Posted November 11, 2012 I had the same pain from the incision that the stomach came out of and went to the er no leaks, no hernia but it was an infection called cellulitus ...OMG and the antibiotics they gave me contained zinc which I'm allergic To ....thankful to my pcp Dr.Gina Rushing for prescribing me antibiotics that healed the wound and made me feel better! doxieville 799 Posted November 11, 2012 Good idea to be cleared by the doc when u have intense pain like that. I was told that sutures are stitched to the abdominal wall and when it pulls that's what hurts. Try a heating pad & light massage. The stitch has to dissolve and then it will stop hurting. RHONDAK72VSG 4 Posted November 11, 2012 My surgeon's assistant told me the left side pain will usually last up to a month. He also said it had to do with the main incision as well as internal stitches within the abdominal wall. Hope you feel better soon!
