I eat it. The sugar alcohol doesnt count. But be careful!!! It can be hard to digest. It can give you gas & has a laxative affect.

it is great ot have when you need that sweet tooth satisified. I understand though it is best if we try to not let that sweet tooth develop again if possible.. I am curious to see how succesful I will be in that area. Sweets and carbs were my nemisis.

OMG Wish I saw this post yesterday. I had 2 sugar free hard candies about 2hours apart and encountered the "laxative effect". Wont eat any of those again!!!

Yes sweets use to be my weakness , but I haven't had any sweets since the surgery , 6 weeks ago , but I crave it. It's hard , but guess I could do without, idk , maybe just a piece of chocolate here & there , lol

For me, it's my one treat that I enjoy and doesn't led me down a path of eating more. I happen to really like the way Atkins bars taste, so I allow myself one a day. Now if I were to eat Pasta or potatoes, then I'd be in trouble with cravings.

I'm 3 months out and it's really been this past month that i've been able to see what works for me and what doesn't. Yummy Protein bars w real sugar sent me down a path of craving carbs for a week. That was NOT fun!!

You might use flavored calcium chews. They are king of like candy as they come in caramel, chocolate, strawberry and other flavors. I eat 6 a day to meet my Calcium requirements and enjoy them because of the yummy caramel flavor. Only a few calories each.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
