Yes, especially if you're going too fast. Try taking a sip, then hold the Fluid in your mouth, as you slowly swallow small amounts until it's all gone. That's what worked for me. Also, warm liquids went down better. Good Luck!

Warm fluids or icy cold worked for me. Still have trouble with room temp Water, just feels like it gets stuck. Sounds crazy and I don't understand it so I avoid room temp fluids. Funny thing is that pre surgery I only stand room temp water!!!

Welcome to the restriction of the sleeve. I still (at two and a half months) have that restriction...I can drink larger amounts, but I can't gulp!

It doesn't really hurt, just some pressure and gas. I guess that is normal.

I was sleeved 2 days ago also! I tried my first Protein Shake this morning and it took me 1 1/2 hours to eat it. I would eat a tiny spoonful and wait a while. I could feel it going down. My insides were gurgling and rumbling and had some little crampy pains with each bite...not unbearable pain, but uncomfortable feeling. Hope this will get better and better.

Hi, I am on day 5 now hunny it does start to get better but I am told it takes time. It's the constant diarrhoea and wind that is getting to me.

My dietician recommended whey powder to me as you only have to drink 2 of these in a day to get your 60g Protein and I have found it to be invaluable. I just sip that and Water all day and know I'm getting enough of what I need. Xxx

I agree either of the extremes are better for me too. Room temperature liquids aren't always as easy to go down.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
