The Exact Recomended Diet??

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone I'm Chris 23 I'm from TN and I'm going to be having my surgery performed by Dr. Fromm, anyone heard of him? He is with Dr. Ponce and Paynter. But anyhow I was just wondering what the recomended amount of food for each meal is.. what I'm saying is that I would like to show my wife what my plate would look like after I've had the band and I've heard many many different suggestions lol so I guess what I'm asking is if there is a standard that they want you to hold up to>?

I believe the "average" is 4 to 6 ounces of food, or 1/2 cup. I know that is about what I am able to take in at a meal.

1/2 cup to 1 cup, but this theory has been much debated.

Generally, I try to eat out of small utensils only - such as a dessert plate or a coffee cup. One serving only - example - small chicken breast and a spoon or two of a simple vegetable, such as green Beans.

I'm not big on measuring, it's one reason I got the band, but I'm quite allright with using a dessert plate instead of a full sized dinner plate or a cup instead of a bowl.

:cry Hmm so I guess I will have to guess at it I just don't want to mess up my pouch I know some banders talk about how they can eat more and still be full and I guess if you kept eating more you would eventually stretch out your top pouch and cause slippage?

Its entirely an individual thing, how much fill you have, what foods you tolerate etc. I'd eat a bit more than that per meal, more like a cup to a cup and a half, but I'm very active.

I think if your fill level allows you to eat x amount without discomfort and you're most definitely not ignoring your body's signals to stop, then you dont need to worry about stretching your pouch. If I were finishing each meal bursting and in pain, I'd worry but I'm not. I feel just "satisfied" - that's what you should be aiming for.

Although I think most of us measure out at first right after surgery.

Yea I guess you just can't be to precautious I mean it is surgery and if you mess it up there is another surgery and I don't want to be cut on but once if I can help it ya know.

You're very unlikely to truly mess up though. Your body will most definitely tell you when you've had enough. Its not that important to the ounce what you eat, honestly. Just stop when you feel you've had enough, allow yourself to feel that. Measure out by all means, but dont obsess over it, you dont need to.

food amounts -

When I cook meals to freeze or reheat later, I measure out 1 cup servings. I seldom eat the full amount but its just a measure.

If I overeat, I throw it up. Not the whole meal. Just the last bite. I know it sounds weird but I have no tolerance for excess food in my pouch - and I am almost 18 months past surgery.

Good luck.

Well they told me no larger than the top part of your hand and after your

first fill, no bites larger than your fingernail. I know I tried to eat a tortilla

and thought I was going to die, I'll never try that again. Just make sure

your bites are very small............Anniemay

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
