teatimed 23 Posted November 10, 2012 I also took whole pills...for pain...heartburn etc
Briannasmom 7 Posted November 10, 2012 My doctor said it was ok too but that they would take up the space in my stomach and I wouldn't be able to eat anything until they dissolved. I would feel full for about an hour or more depending on the size of the pill but otherwise no issues.
willij2 0 Posted November 10, 2012 Whole pills are not good because your stomach being smaller cant absorb the medicine properly.
DEZ1975 170 Posted November 10, 2012 My Dr said it's fine as long as there is no enteric coating, like some Vitamins have. I've been taking whole pills since week 3.
RunningGranny 16 Posted November 10, 2012 My dr told me to crush mine (none are enteric coated or time released)
Kaj 88 Posted November 10, 2012 I haven't had my surgery. I'm not even close yet, however what I do know is that I take meds that can't be crushed because they are extended release. Definitely NOT able to be done. <shrug> Guess I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.
Mommy sleeve 16 Posted November 10, 2012 The docs told me it is ok once the post op swelling goes down. It is not about absorption, it is the "stuck" feeling early on.
Parker77 12 Posted November 10, 2012 I have had no issues, and was not told to crush either. I am on day 5 post op!
