Okay, I am 10 days out, 13 lbs down since surgery...I have not even lot and ounce in 5 days. I transitioned to soft foods, did chat a little and have some tuna and chicken but not more than 1/4 cup either time. My blood sugar has been out of whack and I was weak and light headed only on grits and shakes. I joined the gym today since i was given the green light to go ahead and do the treadmill. I need to know if anyone has any suggestions on how to get out of this slump! Thanks in advance!

Congratulations on your decision to have the sleeve!~ I am now 8 weeks out and this is the best thing I have ever done for myself... About the stall...my doctor told me for weeks 3 and 4 most people experience a stall. (In other words, it is completely normal to not have any weight loss during those weeks because your body is still recovering from a big loss the first two weeks). Sounds like you are doing everything right just keep doing it and it will eventually start back. I an in another stall now and have been for almost two weeks but I keep eating right and going to the gym because i know eventually it will change... You can do it

I've had the same thing happen. I am seeing my size change though so just keep going. I lost 9 pounds my first week and then I've lost 2 pounds since (I'm 3.5 weeks out) - absolutely nothing during week two. At the same time I've gone from an 18/tight 16 pre-op to a loose 14/snug 12 now so something is definitely changing :).

I am doing the same thing also. i am 4 1/2 weeks post-op and I stalled at week 2 and since I have only lost a couple of pounds. I am losing inches and dropping clothing sizes. I have went from 3x in shirt to xl in shirt from 22/24 to 14/16 in pants. Hang in there. That is what I am having to do. I know it is frustrating as can be though.

Thanks so much to all three of you! I am glad I am not alone and that even if the scale isn't moving atleast the clothes are still getting loose! I wish you all the best!

Don't look at the scale, this is about your health n your knew life. I know it's hard, I'm almost 3 months out and i used to check the scale all the time. Now I check once a week, it's inevitable that we are going to keep losing and stalls are guaranteed to come n go because our bodies get used to patterns. 7 weeks out n I'm down 53 lbs, it will happen (:

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
