So I've only been weighing myself at the doctor's office with his super cool scale. The last time I was weighed was at my 3 month check up (Oct 13ish). I'm going in today for a counseling session and a fitness session and I'm wondering if I should weigh myself since I'm there.

I haven't been weighing myself because I put a ton of emphasis on the numbers on the scale, vs. how I feel/how clothes fit, etc. If I haven't lost weight, I will be pretty upset. I was planning on weighing myself on my 5 month check up in December, but I'm wondering if I should just do it now so I can update MFP and my 4 month post-op photos.

What do you guys think?

Remember that there's more than one kind of loss. If you've been exercising and building muscle, you're swapping out something bad for something good. I've learned that even if the scale isn't moving (and this week it really isn't, grr) I can still show inches lost.

I would definitely weigh. It has been one month since your last weigh.

Thanks guys! I like my doc's scale because it shows fat mass and lean body mass. So even if I have put on some muscle, it will show up on the print out.

If I haven't lost any weight or gained any muscle I will be back on later, in tears, to tell you all about it. ^_^

You need a balance between blissful ignorance and obsessing over the numbers. For some people weighing every day is detrimental and causes stress. But then if you swing wild the other way, you lose track of how effective your daily routine is. It's good to be in the "reality check" area. Weighing on occasion is good.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
