Ashlee: I think the next meeting is April 11...but I haven't gotten an e-mail from Vivienne about it yet. I'm going in for a fill on April 2 too! My appt is at 1:30. My March exercise challenge is just something I do with myself...but you're welcome to join me. I try to get in 15 thirty minute exercise sessions each month. Sometimes I go over, sometimes I don't quite make it. :)

Karen: I'm glad your dad is doing better. It sounds like you and your family are under a lot of stress dealing with everything. I hope your mom's test turn out ok...Alzheimers is so difficult. Keep us updated!

Becky: You crack me up with your Hannibal Lector/Dr. Muse reference!

Jessica,

I just missed seeing you. I had my fill at 10:30 with Vivian I love her she is so helpful. I only got .3cc this time I have been empty for over a year. We are going really slow to build back up. My next fill is April 30 at 11:30 I think I might drop in to the group on the 11th and see if I like it. Hope to see you there.

Ashlee

Oh I'm glad I saw that I will try to make it. We have my step-sons this week and my hubby is weird about dealing with all 5 kids alone. lol he is a whimp.

I hope to see you there Ashlee! Anyone else going?

Hi Jessica!

Unfortunately, I am flying to Chicago this afternoon and won't be able to make it to the group.

Let me know how it goes, ok? I usually find them pretty informative.

Hope all is going well for everyone!

Hi, I was banded 3/12/07 by Dr. Darrin Hansen, SV Valley Surgical Center. I'm thrilled to find a Utah thread! I live in Riverton, am married and have 1 daughter (who just turned 15 April 1st!) And the cutest puppy, named Jake! (he is not a puppy any more but he still looks like one, he is 2 yrs old and weighs 4.5 lbs!) I am so excited to start this new and great part of my life. Thanks for sharing all your experiences and I look forward to sharing mine!

Hi, Good morning. I hope today is a good day, it seems like I can eat a little bit more each day, I am 4 days from adding regular food and I am scared. I hope the weight loss doesnt slow too much then. I see the Dr. on the 27th, maybe I'll need a fill...

:help: How do you get the cute ticker factory thing to be in your posts?

Bobbi don't be scared of real food! :) I remember I was a little timid at first, but I was SO ready to eat real, solid food. I think I had Mexican food for my first solid meal. I had NO restriction at first. It's taken me about 5 months to get proper restriction and I still haven't had a PB. If you are careful you should be fine. Just remember to chew A LOT and take small breaks in between bites.

You can get a ticker at www.tickerfactory.com and this post will tell you how to get it in your signature. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/get-ticker-your-t16218.html

Hi, Bobbi! I'm excited to get to regular food, too, but how come I have to wait until April 30 when I was just banded a week after you??? I wanna know!!! Hopefully I figured something wrong but I thought we had to do the healing diet for four weeks and I just started it on Monday. Tell me I did something wrong and I have less than two weeks left! PLLLLEEEEEEEESSSSE!

I'm very tired of baby food and Easter dinner is going to be a joke. Glad it's at my house so I can grind up my ham and au gratin potatoes. Do you think anyone will notice??? I did tell my parents that I had a hiatal hernia repaired (which is true) and that I have a special diet for awhile. They have no idea how "special." My kids know so that isn't a problem.

Well, I'm rambling. Good luck everyone! I'm so impressed that you haven't had a PB, Jessica. I want to be just like you! Glad your fill is working now--I'm more nervous about that than I am starting regular food. I'm sure I don't have any restriction. I ate (or drank) two cups of that cauliflower cheese Soup in the recipe handout. Even though it's liquid, it seems it should go through more slowly if there was some restriction, don't you think?

Happy Easter everyone! Have a great weekend. We have a great one planned--our 37-year-old pregnant daughter (1st pregnancy, married over 10 years) and her husband are coming tonight from CT to spend the weekend and see my father before his cancer would make the visit less enjoyable for them both. They are very close so it will be fun for him to see her pregnant but sad, too, as she may not see him alive again. The circle of life--beautiful but sometimes bittersweet. Easter is a great reminder of better things to come. Karen

Hi,

Karen - I just checked my paper work and it says the Healing diet is from day 14 to week 5... so that would mean I do have one more week, HOWEVER... when I saw Dr. Hansen Mon. Mar 26 (2 weeks post op) We talked about food and he said 2 weeks then I can integrate solids into my diet. So Maybe he thought I was further along than I was... or Maybe I missunderstood :) I'll have to re-think and wait a week longer.

JDru- Thanks for the ticker info - I excited to get it up and running!

Bye

I have my post-op tomorrow so I'll clarify. I don't know if the healing diet goes TO week 5 or THROUGH week 5. I'm SO ready to stop this mushie stuff! Have a good weekend, Karen

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
