Water And Stretching Sleeve

Recommended Posts

Ok, does anyone know if drinking an excess amount of Water? I have seen both arguments for and against this hypothesis. I honestly am not able to find some accurate information on it. I have between 100-125 oz a day. I am not classifying this as an excessive amount, but want to know how much you would have to drink before running into potential stretch scenarios. I can drink 32 oz in under 5 minutes, no issue. I am about 4 months out.

Great Question! I hope some one has the answer. I to drink a lot and fast with no issues. I sure hope it doesn't stretch the tummy.

Unless you are force drinking and gulping hugely- I don't think it's possible as liquid (liquids - not smoothies) passes thru the pyloric valve immediately.

I have been told Water can not strech your sleeve. But I would talk to your doctor about how much is too much, you can dilute the minerals in your body by drinking too much and since you can eat as much you could pre op your not replinishing those minerals as fast.

Fidlleman

110 lbs down

4 1/2 months

you are doing amazing with your weight loss!!!!!

WooHoo

now back to business..... ;)

per my NUT....and the many many many responses i've read - "most" people agree that its virtually impossible to stretch your sleeve

first few weeks despite what NUT told me - i was frequently concerned that if i even looked the wrong way i would stretch my sleeve :o

way back when, had to sometimes push myself to get in the proper 64 oz

drinking more than 100 oz of Water daily, sounds great, but then again.....................

per Squisha - "diluting minerals"? :wacko:by drinking too much???? not sure about that -but its worth asking the question to the doc :)

good luck

keep up your great job :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
