pHJason 1 Posted November 9, 2012 I am having my surgery on Nov 28. Insurance denied it so I'm going it alone. I'm doing it in Juarez through a service. I'm 35 and weigh about 360. Ideally I would be down to 200 when all is said and done. I'm extremely nervous and scared and not prepared for the life change. I currently have very bad knees that the doctors tell me is because of my weight so I'm hoping my knee pain goes away. I'm scared to tell anyone. I'm afraid I'm going to fail and then I've ruined my body. I'm afraid it won't work. Complications. Etc. I know this is last minute jitters. Is this something everyone goes through? gaye jarvis 751 Posted November 9, 2012 Yes mam this is something that everyone goes through, it's the unknown. You will do fine, just trust that the Dr. knows what he's doing. It will be the best thing that you can do for yourself. I was sleeved on June 18, and its hard for me to believe that in 4 1/2 months I have lost 91 lbs. It will work for you, just do everything the Dr says and I promise it will work. By the way, you picked a great day to have surgery, it will be my 47th birthday that day! Keep us updated on your journey and good luck!
AStephenson 159 Posted November 9, 2012 Hi PH....I think everyone feels that way to some extent. I've been researching since August and have talked myself in and out of having this surgery. I'm self pay as well, headed to Tijuana in Feb. next year. Right now I'm just focusing on the positive. Anyone who takes the time to learn about the bad and good will eventually come to a decision, and then be at peace with it. Once I sent in my deposit, I stopped looking back! You have some time before your surgery, take steps now to lessen the shock of that life change. Get yourself some small plates, small utensils and portion out your food. Try not to eat/drink within 30 min. of each other. Eat small, planned meals and stop carbonated beverages. Baby steps! Best of luck to you! 2 gmanbat and Babysteppin reacted to this
