I'm here in L.A Harbor Area, and we have a Chicano (Mexican-American) version of your fries cheese and gravy mixture. We call it Carne Asada Fries! Usually like Nachos but in lieu of tortilla chips you use fries. Fries covered with cheese, refried Beans, cheese, crema (Mexican sour cream), guacamole, salsa (tomatoes, onions, chilis, cilantro), and chunks of Carne Asada. The perfect munchie & drunk food, but dietary suicide. I'm gonna miss this one...

Ok so I'm from Canada... What are refried Beans lol? Like brown beans in a can? Baked beans? Idk if I've ever seen refried beans but everyone eats them!

try refried black beans! SOOO yummy; I can't wait to move to soft/mushy foods. Right now my favorite thing is chicken broth.< /p>

I make the refried Beans with black beans... soooooo much more delicious than the pinto.. (I also use a bit of extra garlic and cilantro in them)

After surgery for my puree stage I'm thinking of making hummus blended together with some ground beef. Ground beef poured over hummus is delicious, so why not pureed with it? I dunno, it's worth a try. I've got a ways to go yet. I still have three months until my surgery.

Oh yeah that's a GREAT idea!! I'm also planning to puree pumpkin with Splenda (a litte of the white and the brown), and pumpkin pie spice. Sounds like such a yummy treat right now! I should be on the soft/mushy food in a few days WOO WOO!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
