Surgery In 5 Days Ahhh

Recommended Posts

I am!

I just went to the store to stock up on Jello & Powerade zero for afterwards.

Just found out I need to check in at the center at 10:15 on Tuesday. Since I live 2 hours away, it's perfect! I get to take my kids to school that morning before heading out.

I'm excited and nervous but oddly at peace.

Please keep me informed how you're doing.

My surgery is Monday and it is actually a strange feeling. I am super excited and can tell so since the days (more importantly, my days off) are DRAGGING by! However, the weird thing is I am not anxious or scared or on edge. This is very surprising to me! I'm usually a big worry wart and I am so incredibly calm, my husband asked me if I was really going through with it next week! I like the sense of calm though. Makes me feel like I'm right in my decision to do this!

I'm smack in the middle of the country here in Oklahoma. We're one of the fattest states but I'm refusing to be a statistic!

I'm having my surgery on the 13th too. I'm from Oklahoma and wished I had the peace some of you have. I think it was just such a surprise insurance came through. I am unsure about the process but know I have to make a change. Good luck to all and look forward to watching our decreasing numbers and increasing health. Bright blessings.

I'm with Dr. Walton. I can't wait! The main thing I'm nervous about is getting the laundry done, house cleaned, etc. ha! I'm a tulsan too BTW.

Meeeee!!!!!!! I'm super excited! The thing I'm most worried about is my kids ( I have 3. Ages 4,2,and 8 months) I haven't been apart from my youngest for more than a couple of hours and I am going to be away from them for 2 nights.

I spent today stocking up on Jello, broth and Protein powder. I also made sure to get the Vitamins that taste like candy ;)

And oh, Iowa here!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
