Beetracy 14 Posted November 8, 2012 My Brother is getting married, last minute exactly a month after my surgery. So my surgery is on the 15th of November and he is getting married on December 15th. I plan to fly at this point, he is in CA and I am in South TX. Will this be enough time to fly? Havent talked to my surgeon yet but will. Thanks for your help! 1 Tink22-sleeve reacted to this
Rootman 1,101 Posted November 8, 2012 I flew home from surgery all by myself 3 days post-op so YES t can be done. However you may be feeling kinda crappy so I would make alternative plans if possible. Wish you luck friend!
Susie in Lima 320 Posted November 8, 2012 I am not sure about the flying, but you will need to prepare ahead of time for your meals. Depending on your dr's program, you may still be on liquids at that time or just beginning to be on solids. I would talk with my dr, if I were you so that you can be ready to go and enjoy that wedding!
Threetimesacharm 1,400 Posted November 8, 2012 A month out from surgery you will be fine. I flew from Mexico on day 5 after surgery, no problems. By this point you will know what you will be eating and have a routine down. No worries!! Have fun.
Tink22-sleeve 528 Posted November 8, 2012 I'm no expert, but I think it should be safe. People fly back from Mexico post-op everyday. They are like 4 days post op. Hope this helps to reassure you.
ThinkThin78 25 Posted November 8, 2012 I traveled for business 3 weeks post-op. my surgeon just recommended to make sure I was moving/flexing my legs every once in a while to avoid blood clots. Biggest obstacles were probably figuring out how to bring Protein drinks and still carry on baggage (I just brought powder instead of pre-mix), lifting my suitcase into the overhead bin and holding my juice for the entire flight since the tray table won't go down all the way (still do big but the seatbelt fit!) and i was sip sip sipping :-) Congrats on your surgery date, you'll do great!
