So I'm 17days post op. I started purée foods on last Sunday. I'm eating 4 oz, generally cream of wheat, cottage cheese, retried Beans. Tonight my daughter made a roast in the crock pot. I puréed 2oz of the roast with some broth, then 2oz of veggies . I ate most of that for dinner. I feel fine, full, but fine.

I notice that purée meats seam to be the norm on many of your meal plan. But my plan doesn't mention meat untill week four. I feel really guilty about not following the plan exactly. Oh yeah, I had 2oz of puréed chicken salad for lunch. What are your thoughts on this?

Every plan is different for everyone. My plan, I could have pureed meats at your stage, no beef though, because they say beef is hard to digest. My plan allows grits and mashed potatoes, oatmeal and cream of wheat too, and I have seen several members say they weren't allowed those things. The plan they have for all patients is in my opinion is just a guideline, everyone heals at different rates and can tolerate different foods at different rates as well. Don't feel guilty :) I think Protein is good in any way you can get it, as long as it is a lean source and you feel OK. I wonder though, why is there such a variation in meal plans and what makes the doc decide, this is what I want my patients to follow?

I ate meat during the puree stage. My fav thing was baked ricotta from the world according to eggface website. I still eat it now!

My post op diet plan was ungodly restrictive. One week clear liquid, one week thin soups... I couldn't take it. I wasn't getting enough liquid or enough Protein and so I basically just started eating smart. I can't really handle meat yet (though I'm really wanting some salmon!) but I've been able to handle low fat Jerky just fine. As long as I watch my carbs and fat and make sure I take my Vitamins and get my protein, I'm listening to my body first.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
