except the chance to share the memory of my hero. My mom was 49 years old when she passed away a year ago today after suffering from ovarian cancer for 4 years. She was young and beautiful and taken from my family way to soon. It's amazing how much I've become like her in the year that she's been gone. I'm such a different person and it pains me that she's not here to see it even though I do know she is watching over me. I was best friends with my mother. It wasn't always that way of course. In my late teen and early twenties we didn't have a very close relationship but as I really became a woman we developed a strong bond. She was the biggest part of my life and that was taken away and now there's a massive void. My mom was a very inspirational person. She was a woodworker and she had her own business on ebay selling the stuff she made on her scroll saw. She was a master at her craft and spent hours everyday perfecting her creations before she sent them to destinations around the world. It makes me smile to think of things she created can be found all over the globe. She'd make things and paint quotes on them such as "turn your scars in to stars" and "We're all like snowflakes, one of a kind".

I miss her!

Josette~that was absolutely beautiful. I understand your pain, having lost my mom at your age. It is now 8 years later. I can say, although I don't think it gets easier, I know that she has been in my life for that past 8 years and has influenced me in so many ways. Continue to remember the laughter and the good times.

I am sorry for your loss. Your mom lives on and you wil soon see that, even in small, subtle ways at first.

I will be thinking of you today

I also feel for your loss.

I both sympathize and empathize with you. My mother died of breast cancer at 41 when I was 19, so I know what you are going through. They say, "Only the good die young".

I hope I can ease some of your pain by letting you know that it gets better with time. Your mother, like mine can never be replaced, but the one way to repay your mother for everything she did for you is to pay the debt owed to her to your children. If you have no children, then adopt the human race and nurture it.

Josette,

My thoughts and prayers are with you! I cant imagine it. I am very close with my mom and she is my best friend. She was right there with me during the surgery. Makes people really treasure their lifes and I THANK you for telling us, as I know that hurts as well. But I am here for you at a minutes notice. Jules

Josette,

Thank you for the lovely tribute for your mom. Sounds like she did a great job with her daughter! Anniversaries are not easy, I know.

I hope you'll be able to find the laughter along with your tears today.

I am blessed that my mother is still with us at 82. She's still doing well and getting around. My father passed 3 years ago and has left a void for all of us. But again we were blessed that we had him for 83 years. I couldn't imagine losing a parent when they were young and vibrant. My heart goes out to you. You have payed a great tribute to her by sharing what a special person she was with all of us.

Josette, you have writen a marvelous tribute to a wonderful mother, and a great lady. You are a great lady, too.

When my mom passed away a little over a year ago, a friend wrote this to me: "Your life will never be the same, but it doesn't have to be bad." I think it's been one of the best pieces of advice; it has helped me through some hard spots.

((((Hugs))))

Josette, you never know what you have loss until you lose it. Moms are so great. I loss my mom 16 yrs ago and I still miss her. One thing I would say to all who still are lucky enough to still have their mom, is to enjoy them now. Life is sooo short and ya never know. I believe that our moms are looking over us and are still with us in so many ways. I take great comfort with that. Remember all the great times you had with your mom. enjoy the laughs and tears spent together. So many memorys we have. Cancer is terrible. 4 yrs is a long time to live with cancer. My mom had cancer for the last 5 yrs of her living and that is hard to watch.

Thank you for sharing you love for your mom. I know both of our moms are proud of us and watching with laughter in their hearts.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
