I Can't Drink One More Protein Shake!

Recommended Posts

Yes you will. I stopped at about 1 month out. I couldn't take it anymore lol. I was sleeved July 17, 2012 and have lost a total of 65 pounds so far. Eat healthy- eat Protein first and exercise. You will be just fine :-)

I am 4 weeks post op. When I saw my NUT at my 2 week appointment, she told me no more Protein Shakes during the day. The only time I should have one is if it is almost bed time and I have not gotten my 80grams of Protein in yet. All my protein needed to be from food.< /p>

Thats actually a nice healthy change but I will say...80g's? I'd never make it without a shake. I have trouble getting 60 in (my goal). I don't like the things, but I still have to use a half scoop or so daily to get myself up to close to 60.

I have a hard time getting 80 in. I had no energy at my last appointment so she told me to try to get to 80 grams a day. Most days I get around 70. I add cheese to everything that I can. I feel like all I do is eat, even though it is not very much at a time. Sometimes I just get tired of eating. Who would have ever thought I would say that!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
