tigger33 0 Posted October 13, 2006 I am due to have my surgery on Tuesday 10/17 but am running late with my mentral cycle. Will I still be able to have the surgery or do they make you postpone it. I'm not sure. I don't remember hearing anything about it but didn't want to sound like an idiot when i called the surgeon. HELP:help:
S@ssen@ch 745 Posted October 13, 2006 I know my surgeon does a pregnancy test the day of surgery, but what he'd do if you WERE pregnant I do not know. I would think that the risks of anesthesia drugs to a newly developing fetus might be greater than what he'd prefer to take and therefore would want to postpone your surgery. However, if you're just "running late" due to nerves and such I wouldn't think twice about it.
Dianechef 3 Posted October 13, 2006 They are use to this when dealing with women!! Don't worry. They only thing you need to worry about is not to wear a tampon. They will give you special underwear to wear & a big ol' grandma pad. You'll be fine.
Malice X Girl 0 Posted October 13, 2006 NO you'll be good to go. Don't sweat it, just let the dr. know.
Irish Girl 3 Posted October 13, 2006 I was in your situation too. Mine ended up arriving after I got back to my room after surgery. Great fun.

BandaCat 1 Posted October 15, 2006 I got mine the day after. It was such a bummer because my first day is always really hard. Honestly, I don't know if I felt worse from the surgery or the cramps. But when that went away, I felt like I was a million times better. My doctor never even mentioned it, so I doubt it's a big issue.
NewBeginnings2018 81 Posted October 15, 2006 They had me take a pregnancy test because I was late, even though I was 100% sure I could not be pregnant. It ended up coming 3 days before surgery, so I got to wear a pair of those sexy mesh panties. I was embarassed a bit until I told my nurse who said I was the 4th woman that day, so I think it's something they are completely used to. I just felt bad for the person who had to put in my cathedar. Eeewww...
TruBlueSue 0 Posted October 15, 2006 I was in the middle of my 'monthly' issue when I had my surgery - it wasn't even a concern....

Denise2 0 Posted October 17, 2006 When I went in for my pre-surg testing I had blood work done. I asked what are they testing for and one of the items was a pregnancy test. So I think you are covered. But about my menstrual cycle. I am late because of nerves and I hope I don't get it before surgery. I am stressing over that. Also having it soon after surgery and having soreness just to take care of it.
beckymein1021 0 Posted October 26, 2007 BandaCat, the exact same thing happened to me. It was a wonderful weekend, between the two. But, that too passed.
pam726 0 Posted October 28, 2007 I am so happy for this thread! I was worried about this issue too. I am due to have surgery on 11/2 and I always start right around the first! I feel better thanks!
Longhorn 1 Posted October 28, 2007 I wasn't even asked about my cycle. And at the rate things are going for me now, I couldn't predict the next one anyway. They've been very erratic for the last several months.
gadgetlady 4 Posted October 28, 2007 I had mine during surgery and someone advised me not to wear a tampon because it might be difficult to reach to remove it after surgery. I'm glad I had that advice because it would have been. They gave me a pad and mesh underwear and it was fine. Believe me, they see blood all day, every day; a little more won't have any impact.
