I've only heard of a couple of cases where "Mr Happy" actually developed a severe infection and shriveled up and fell off within the last week so I am quite sure you'll be fine <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />

I had one at Cleveland Clinic Florida. It honestly wasn't a big deal and it didn't hurt coming out for me. Maybe I just have a high pain tolerance.

I had one put in while I was awake by a female nurse in the ICU. That was probably the most awkward thing I have ever done in my life. At least she kind of looked like Angelina Jolie. It is kind of painful when going in and coming out, but only for a minute or so.

As others have already pointed out not all surgeons will insist on one. One benefit is that you will be able to piss like a racehorse for about a day after they remove it :)

I was worried about the exact same thing!!! My wife asked me if I was nervous about the surgery and I said no, I was nervous about a tube being jammed in my d***. I even asked the nurse a bunch of times to make sure I was out before they inserted it. I think I need a tatto that says "Exit Only"

I woke up with a catheter. Was not a big deal. I had a morphine iv pain pump. Hit the button for iv morphine just before. The nurse took it out at 0600 the next day. When it's in it may feel like you have to urinate a little bit. It was not at painful at all. Only took a second to for the nurse take it out. A ballon in your bladder holds the Cather tube in place. When that is deflated the Cather comes out easily.

Well, I'll be. I never realized there was a balloon on the other end of it. It is a good thing no one told me about this before hand or I would have chickened out.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
