Boston George 84 Posted November 9, 2012 I've only heard of a couple of cases where "Mr Happy" actually developed a severe infection and shriveled up and fell off within the last week so I am quite sure you'll be fine <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Muhahhahahahahahahhahha (Sorry but I just couldn't resist) hahahahaha I couldn't help but laugh either
bigsleeve56 266 Posted November 9, 2012 As long as the nurse does not say its just a little prick 5 Tapdancincowpiez, iggychic, CBT and 2 others reacted to this
Mensch 150 Posted November 11, 2012 I had one at Cleveland Clinic Florida. It honestly wasn't a big deal and it didn't hurt coming out for me. Maybe I just have a high pain tolerance.
Fiddleman 4,376 Posted November 12, 2012 I had one put in while I was awake by a female nurse in the ICU. That was probably the most awkward thing I have ever done in my life. At least she kind of looked like Angelina Jolie. It is kind of painful when going in and coming out, but only for a minute or so.
Rootman 1,101 Posted November 12, 2012 As others have already pointed out not all surgeons will insist on one. One benefit is that you will be able to piss like a racehorse for about a day after they remove it 1 Fiddleman reacted to this
Jay N 1 Posted November 12, 2012 I was worried about the exact same thing!!! My wife asked me if I was nervous about the surgery and I said no, I was nervous about a tube being jammed in my d***. I even asked the nurse a bunch of times to make sure I was out before they inserted it. I think I need a tatto that says "Exit Only"

chad2rad 491 Posted November 15, 2012 I woke up with a catheter. Was not a big deal. I had a morphine iv pain pump. Hit the button for iv morphine just before. The nurse took it out at 0600 the next day. When it's in it may feel like you have to urinate a little bit. It was not at painful at all. Only took a second to for the nurse take it out. A ballon in your bladder holds the Cather tube in place. When that is deflated the Cather comes out easily.

It is a good thing no one told me about this before hand or I would have chickened out.
