Weightloss Slow Due To Mirena Iud

Recommended Posts

Amanda, I am a few days post-op but before surgery, I decided that I hated my birth control pills and wanted something more permanent. So I looked into the Essure procedure. Two little nickel springs like the ones they use in heart stints are inserted in the Fallopian tubes the. Over 3 months they scar over and just like that we're 'sterile'. My doctor performed it in his office and I had it done just a week before my sleeve.

The only discomfort I had was with the implanting if the springs. Since I too had only had c-sections, they had to dilate my cervix. That cramped a bit. It also triggered a second period for the month but that wasn't bad. I bounced back pretty well afterwards.

I found this to be a better alternative to a tubal. So I go back in 3 months for a special x-ray to make sure nothing can get in or out. The best part is that I'm not being pumped full of hormones anymore and can just be me.

I wish you luck and kudos for taking more positive steps for your future.

i would really like to know the answer to this. i still have the mirena and i love it . But i do question if that is the reason for my slow weight loss, Before surgery i went threw the dietician and lost 76 in 6 months . I am now 7 months post op and down 65 lbs i had the mirena put in 2 weeks before surgery i thought i would be down more since suregery and have wondered if mirena is stopping me from losing quickly .?? I am not complaining just would like to know

I had my Mirena removed because of the weight gain, headaches, and low sex drive! The side affects sucked!!!

Since having it removed I feel 200% better!

I went to a web site called curezone to research if what and how I was feeling was because of the Mirena. I discovered I was not alone in what I was feeling and I was not the only one being affected by most of the side effects.

If the Mirena works for you that is great!

It doesn't work for everyone! I am happy with the decision I made.

Thanx for the suggestion. I have a known sensitivity to nickel and my mom has a major allergy. I need to get an allergy test 1st.

A friend had this done last year, as in 15 months ago. Had the X-ray to make sure all was blocked, and it was perfect. Her baby is 2 months old. Yep...it didn't work. They said the tubes re-grew & found a way.

I'm into my 2nd week Mirena free. Still bleeding. The 1st week I dealt with the "Mirena Crash" and was very anxious and felt like a -0- energy slug. Now in week 2 I am moving past the anxiety and sluggishness, and now have insomnia. Is this my body regulating itself?!

I've had my mirena for almost 2 years and hadn't had a period until after the surgery .. the Dr just said its your body going thru shock from the anesthesia.

I haven't had any issues from it that I'm aware of.. my weight loss has been steady. I hope it doesn't effect it.. I don't want to remove it... No more kiddies over here!!! 2 is enough for this momma!! Lol

I just found this post and thanks for mentioning this. I just made an appointment to discuss getting this procedure. Really excited at the thought of getting rid of my Mirena and being off hormones.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
