I was provided compression socks and had them on prior to surgery... then kept them on throughout my 2 days of hospital stays. I was told to keep walking, walking, walking. Dr. did not say anything about wearing them afterwards...

Well now...this clotting disorder news has me bothered. How did you know you should be tested for it? I haven't had any clots as far as I know, but I have a propensity for forming hematomas with my bruises, and I also have varicose veins in my legs. My surgeon is making me wear compression hose and will give me blood thinners, as well as walking a lot. Should I ask about testing for the clotting disorder??

I think a clotting disorder is very rare and it is probably hereditary. I don't think the average person should worry. But because clots are a risk of any surgery, just follow what your Dr says and u should be fine ;)

Is there a time period from date of surgery when this risk might be over???
