Help! I Am On A Bender

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved July 30. So 3ish months. I see my nutritionist next week. I lost 30kgs as the gym before surgery. I've since lost another 14. But a few weeks ago I discovered I could eat chocolate way to easily now I've developed a carving/habit for a chocolate each day. I haven't lost any weight in 2 weeks and I have started to move from the freddo frogs to the normal sized bar. I know it's wrong but I feel like I've been dieting on and off for 18 yrs and this is the first time I haven't had to "worrie" about putting on weight. You know, I just want a break but I k ow its a excuse.

So help!!!!

I would allow yourself a chocolate treat one time week, that is it. It would be a treat not a daily thing. I am having a hard time with my daughters halloween candy in the house. I have control if it is not in the house but if it is in the house I am weak, weak!

Good luck to you!

Or make yourself burn off the calories you eat from the candy...at least it will definitely keep you from gaining weight and could help get you to start losing weight again.

I started using a pedometer and trying to get in 10,000 steps a day. It's a goal to meet each day. I started slowly though and have worked up to 10,000. After wearing the pedometer for a day, I worked on adding 500-1000 steps a day to get to 10,000. Sometimes I just walk around the house to get in the steps....lol

I keep a packet of fun size bounty or milky ways in the vegetable crisper. Since I don't eat a lot of fresh vegetables at the moment, I don't look in there much. When I do get a craving though, I know there is something I can have that is small and will satisfy it. I'm honestly not a big fan of the super sweetness of bounty, that's why I get them. So I know I'll only have one and that will be it. Between my 6 year old and I, we made a 12 pack last about 6 weeks. Good luck.

Hi, my downfalls are potato chips, chocolate and ice cream so I don't have them in the house. I don't go without these things completely though, if I am at the shops and I want ice cream , I buy a single serve and enjoy every mouthful.

There are some sweeteners that are organic and therefore a lot less harmful than the processed sugary sweets that make us crave them. Have you tried having a Protein fruit smoothie sweetened with organic raw honey or Agave syrup...very sweet, yummy and satisfying!!!!!

My Nutritionist has also suggested organic Coconut oil which I eat straight from the spoon, because the weather is cool at the moment it is semi solid but apparently in the warmer months it turns to liquid, it is supposed to be great for lowering Cholesterol and if you like coconut then it's not too bad to take.....when I think of some of the weird stuff I have taken in the past to lose weight this doesn't even register on the 'yucky scale'.

It may not be chocolate that you are craving but something that is in the chocolate, like the fat or the caffeine or the sugar so substituting alternatives that are similar in texture might help.

Please keep in touch and know that there are many of us who have been in a similar place to you and that we will always be here to support you.

Sending you some positive energy to ward off your 'chocolate demon'.

Ooooooh I won't be able to have chocolate in the house. I haven't had any for a couple of weeks. My son had a caramello koala in the fridge (husband bought it in to the house) and I thought "I'll just bite the head off." 10 minutes later I was back for the rest of it, and it made me feel like crap. Chocolate is just a no-go for me. I get a sugar high then want more when I come down.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
