I'm so frustrated!! I had my first fill last Thursday (it was very very painless, by the way), and I feel NO restriction whatsoever. I called today to try to get an appointment for my next fill, and the receptionist said that my surgeon requires a 4 week wait between fills........no exceptions. Grrrrrr......... I should've never called on Friday the 13th!

My surgeon requires four weeks. Even then, it is not a guarantee he will give me one.

Another thing to remember is that many people get a fill, but don't actually start feeling the restriction from it until a couple of weeks later. I am not sure why, but it just happens that way. So, maybe yours will kick in yet.

My doctor said 6 weeks, but that if I start really struggling with hunger before then, to call the office and they'd move the appointment up a bit.

Dear Surby,

I have had such a hard time with fills and the frustration of not feeling hardly any restriction. I feel your pain...... But don't stop trying to get in sooner and get filled. Be pushy if you have to be, take it from me I waited way too long between fills and I haven't had much success at loosing weight, I could eat anything and everything.

The last fill I had in July and this fill that I just had last week have been the only ones that I have felt any type of restriction and I've had the band since December 05.

Now I can hardly eat anything! I have to admit It makes me happy cause I know it works now. I was about ready to get the band taken off but I have hopes of loosing now, I'm excited once again...........

I was banded on July 25th 2006 and had my first fill sept 8th 1.5cc them I just went on Oct 8th and got a fill of.3cc so now I am up to 1.8cc and I really don't feel that restricted. There are only a couple things that I have eaten that have bothered me but for the most part i don't feel all that restricted. Is that normal or should I call and try to get in for another fill?

I am feeling a little frustrated with only have 18lbs lost.

Being one that doesn't react to fills until 6-10 days later I offer a word of caution. Give your body a chance to react to the fill before you decide that its not enough. This last one I only got .3. On the 11th day I PBed on a piece of scrambled egg. That had been a safe food for me.

If after 2-3 weeks you are so hungry and your will power is wanning, then call for a fill. If you are not losing and can eat a whole chicken breast, then my doctor says come for a fill.

Being over filled is worse than being under filled. I can use my will power when no restriction is being experienced, but nothing helps when I can't swallow a sip of Water when overfilled.

Also, I can eat lots after 6 days from a fill before the whammy sets in. Each of us is different, but I think that is why they want us to wait. I've also heard, no proof to this, that our ports are only made to withstand a certain # of fills. I don't know how true this is so take it for what it is, a rumor.

My doctor requires at least 4 weeks and I truly believe that waiting is the key. I never know from one day to the next what my postion is going to be as far as eating. Although it did not get like that till about the 3 fill.

This lapband is one of the most unpredictable experiences I have ever had.

I dont have a time frame on mine...My surgeon just told me that if I fell lower than a loss of 4-6 pounds for a months time to come in for a fill...The last time I scheduled one it was about 6 weeks after the first...I didnt want to wait until I went under that weight loss limit so I went in anyways and got it with no problem...I feel that if I wait that long then I am going to fall behind on my loss and I dont really want to do that...So I just waited about 6 more weeks now and am going to go in again for another one November 17th

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
