I definitely think so, I always wake up thirsty. Do you keep something by your bed to drink? It's so hard to get all of your Water in early on.

I am on the pre-op liquid diet and find myself thirsty all the time. I get thirsty immediately after drinking a Protein Shake. I wonder whether it has something to do with the high amount of Protein.< /p>

Totally normal. I was like that for 3 months because it took that long before I could get all my Water in. Now I just have a bottle or glass a water on my night stand so that if I wake up in the middle of the night I can take a sip without going anywhere. Also, I am in the habit to take a drink first thing when I get up.

I'm 3 1/2 weeks post op, and I don't have this as much as I did in the very beginning. In the beginning I felt like my mouth was glued shut with sand when I woke up. It was horrible. I'm nowhere near that now. Maybe just give it a few more weeks and see if you notice a difference? Good luck!

I have had the same problem. I have a hard time getting in all my Water during the day. No matter how much I sip. I am literally on the edge. I hope that this gets better. In the beginning I wound up in the hospital twice with severe dehydration and I would not like a repeat. My students even remind me to drink while I'm teaching! I don't think they liked the subs very much while I was out. :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
