Hey everyone... I'm new here I just download this into my iPad and I thought I'd say hey... My name is Monica.. I'm getting my sleeve this Saturday and I'm freaking out a bit... I've never had surgery before so idk what to expect... I'm scared of the pain after but mostly about the anxiety before! Sometimes I feel I'm not gonna be able to do it but I know i will!!!!

Only 4 days to go!!! I'm actually exited about it I would just want to fall asleep now and wake up next Monday or something... I know I'm gonna be in good hands my dr is amazing and I've heard the best things from his other patients and my dad is a dr so he knows my dr and his team and he will be around too...still I can't seem to be able to calm my nerves...

Anyway I just wanted to say hi and hope all of u soon to be sleeved are not as scared as I am and that everything works out well for everyone!!!!!

Congrats. I had mine on November 1. It was supposed to be Oct 30 but Sandy cancelled everything and knocked out power at my home for a week. When it was cancelled we weren't even sure it could be rescheduled in time enough not to have to redo some of the tests. Even getting to the hospital under hanging trees and down powerlines was more stress than I needed.

Despite all that it worked out. They were able to fit me in just 2 days later. We did find a way to get to the hospital. The procedure went great and having some heat and lights was a nice bonus. Recovering in the cold and dark wasn't so fun but even under those conditions it was okay. The bottom line is no matter what happens it's not going to be as difficult as you think. You can do this and will be okay. Take a couple of deep breaths and do what you have to do. Saturday will get here soon enough.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
