Does anyone eat the Weight Watcher meals before or after surgery to help with Protein intake? Thanks!

I have been eating Weight Warchers & Smart Ones- post op

Oh good to know.. Thanks!! I just realized some have as much Protein as a shake!! R u able to eat.the entire meal?

I am only able to eat about half depending on what it is.

Oh okay,.thats what I was.thinking.. Some of the meals are rich... Thanks for getting back to me on this7

Be careful with these since they are full of sodium. You really need to concentrate on eating your Proteins first, then veggies and that is hard to do with those prepared meals.

I was eating smart ones before and after surgery but my doctor told me not to eat any frozen meals since the preservatives are high.

Although these seem covneient they are defeating the purpose of this surgery for anyone. They are loaded with sodium and preservatives, and the carbs are mostly bad carbs becuase of the high starch content. You need to concentrate on Protein first, then veggies, then starches. When you eat prepared dinners like this, that is hard to do. It is best to get in the habit of preparing your own meals, no matter how small theymay be right now.

Ok that being said for some of us out there who are beginners at cooking healthy meals consistently ( instead of quick fixes or busy people lol) could you share maybe one fav meal/supper idea of yours?:)

Fish is my go to easy meal now. I buy it frozen from costco. Put a piece in the frig the nite before or in the morning. By nite it's usually defrosted. Can pan fry w a little garlic butter. Wrap in foil w some grapeseed oil & thrown on the grill, or put in a parchment bag & baked. Or microwave. You can't go wrong. The same can be done w boneless chicken. If you can eat veggies buy frozen w no additives and mircowave while fish is cooking. Easier & cheaper than take out. :-)

It's a type of paper bag that you can cook food in. It steams the food. Throw in your Protein, veggies, seasoning and/or a sauce you like (not much, just enough for flavor.) Close the bag, put in oven and voila! 30-45 minutes later you have a wonderful, moist meal. They are usually where the paper items like foil & saran wrap are kept.

Its really interesting that you say this because my pre-op diet lists them, which i thought was weird. Its a 1000 calorie diet for 2 weeks, with limited food choices, Protein shakes, 2 cups of certain veggies per day & lean cuisines or smart ones. I kept hearing about these 2 week liquid pre-op diets everyone had to do, so it really was a surprise to me. But as im learning, every doctor is different.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
