Donny 270 Posted November 5, 2012 Does anyone have issues with gum? I got sugar free and followed all the rules, but it makes my stomach feel weird and gassy. But I need a way to combat ketosis/protein shake breath at work. I also bought a big pack of Whisps to give a try. Any suggestions or tips???

zelmo 20 Posted November 5, 2012 I did the first time I tried it. It was too sweet for me. I have since tried Tridents Cinnamon flavored gum and I am tolerating that better. You might try sugar free peppermints....I used them alot the first week post op.

ProudGrammy 8,322 Posted November 5, 2012 Does anyone have issues with gum? hi Donny My NUT told me never to chew gum - she said if i accidentally swallowed it, I might have "issues" i asked her again later, and she stood by her "no gum" response btw - you are doing great - heard your earlier belt story, good for you

BKMama 179 Posted November 5, 2012 You feel/hear the rumbling because your stomach is wondering when the food is going to come on down. Chewing gum (or anything you don't eventually swallow) starts the digestion process...creating saliva, etc. You may want to move to mints or the strips like others suggested. I can chew gum on occasion (sometimes I just need to chew something for a few minutes to get past a craving) but most times it makes me nauseous after just a few minutes.
