There's a thread in the food forum under Protein drinks that rates all the powders.

Everyone has their favorites. There are some that some people love and another person will say is awful.

There is also a thread there of places you can order samples. That's the best thing to do, rather than buy a big package of anything. Samples are great!

I agree order samples! I did and I'm glad I did because there are some that I can't even see how people can stomach it...

From Amazon you can buy small packs of Isopure. I only buy Isopure powders and I have Dutch chocolate, vanilla, banana, and unflavored. I also buy PB2. I LOVE choc Peanut Butter and choc banana shakes! I also bought SF syrups. In the am I make a cup of coffee and stir in vanilla powder and Carmel Syrup.< /p>

Chike is my favorite and the only one I could stand after surgery. They have a sample pack of all their flavors you can get from their website...just google Chike and it will come up. Banana is my favorite with strawberry and vanilla a very close second. I sometimes mix the strawberry and banana and it is sooo yummy. I have a ninja and use it to crush ice to add to it and it tastes just like a strawberry banana smoothie!

I just ordered a sample pack of Chike! I hope I like it half as much as you do, as I am truly tired of Protein shakes!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
