4+ months out and not a single regret. I actually, I regret not doing it sooner. If your are new, give it time. the most important thing is that you follow your doctor's directives so that you won't get any leak.

so sorry it has been a harder road for you. My only regret is not doing something like this 20 years ago. Just stay in touch with your Dr and follow his orders. It will get better. I am pretty sure it wont be long until you change your mind on the regrets :) GL

can't eat anything beyond Clear liquids, still desire food, massive stomach pains and bathroom issues.

DawnyBoca

3 weeks out - drinking only clear liquids - your rules from your NUT - you need to follow, ok?

stomach is healing from major surgery - don't jump ahead and try to eat solids til your told its ok

you will gradually eat more forms, finally get to solids, so you'll feel better - you'll be able to eat anything - in very small portions

having some stomach pains, MASSIVE pains, unbearable pains? contact your dr. tomorrow

if the pain isn't THAT bad, hold on, the pain should decrease one day at a time

bathroom issues - yeach, those are also common problems post surgery - that knowledge doesn't help your situation :(

mourning loss of your best friend, desire for food, totally understandable :(

dealing with problems for awhile, IMO, in the long run, are worth the results you get from the sleeve :)

I love my sleeve - sounding trite, but i also wish i had done WLS years ago

journey with your sleeve is rewarding - your health, quality of life will improve

You've lost 18 lbs post op - WooHoo

good luck

Anyone have regrets? I do' date=' I can't eat anything beyond clear liquids, still desire food, massive stomach pains and bathroom issues.[/quote']

It truly gets better. I hated hearing that but it does. I'm 6 weeks out 41 lbs down and an so much happier. I went thru a break down in the beginning too. My friend had the same surgery and kept saying it gets better and I knew it did but felt like it was so far off. I had a lot of pain too. It was from the large incision. If its severe u really need to call ur Dr ASAP. Good luck!!!

Thank you all, especially proud Granny. Doc and nutritionist both said oatmeal so I tried. Ughhhh. I think my doctor may have taken too much out. He said as wide as his finger now. I had a rough first week, second was better and now this weekend hurt. The Optipure is horrible and we got hit with Hurricane Sandy do store access is limited. Need a better Protein Drink. Just a lot at once

doctor may have taken too much out. - hit with Hurricane Sandy - Need a better Protein drink.

Dawn

i "doubt" dr took too much of your stomach out - the amount i always hear is 85% is to be removed, and he probably followed that

some people on the forum say they don't think dr has taken enough of their stomach out, don't feel restriction of food , so people are scared not enough of stomach was taken out - i don't "think" this happens, but you never know - and some people don't feel enough restriction do to the fact not enough % of stomach was removed

NEWBIES don't feel restriction those first weeks while on liquids only - once you eat more normally you will feel the restriction -_-

"most" people have to experiment with different Protein brands/flavors before they find a shake they really like - for me, i drank the shake for the protein, but never enjoyed it :(

take everything slow, one day at a time - sorry you are still hurting, that should improve

i am sorry you were effected by Sandy - interested in where exactly you live

i live in Syracuse (upstate new york) we had high wins, but no damage

take care - hope your life will get back to normal soon after Sandy

Again, i'm so sorry you and thousands of people went through the hurricane. what a disaster

should make people realize how lucky they are that weren't effected by the storrm

bye

Proud granny - I live in Babylon Long Island. I am fine, much better then most, but with gas shortages and stores just getting power back. It has been a bit of a challenge. I am praying for it to get better. Can't go back now. But it is along hard process. I wish I could get rid of the thirsty feeling. And lack of energy. Trying my best. Thanks for all your words of wisdom

So sorry for your hurricane damage. I'm in Franklin Square. We lost power & had a lot of trees down. Still much luckily than most. Please hang in there. It sounds like a broken record, but it does get easier. Like so many on this site I wish I did it years earlier... Loving my "Sleevie Nicks"- yes I've named her.... Good luck!

Dawn, it will get better. I know it's hard to see that now but, it's true. Look at the posts from people a couple of months ahead of you and try to focus on what is to come. It will help you get through this tough time. Also, if you aren't taking sublingual B12, try to start taking it as soon as possible. I find that when my energy starts to dip low around 3-4 in the afternoon, the B12 really helps. Another thing that might lift your spirits is a Pinterest board with all the things you are looking forward to. Mine is called Reasons to Be Skinny and I spend time pinning clothes, shoes, and pictures of things I want to do. It gives me a little boost when I'm feeling down. :)

A big part of this is mental and if you really work on finding ways to accentuate the positives and focus on the end goal, it will make you feel better in the short term.

Good luck and keep coming here for support! We want you to succeed and know you can!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
