FishingNurse 1,211 Posted November 4, 2012 So I am 15 months post-op..... Just thought I would share my experiences and what life is like for me as a sleever in maintenance. I made my weight loss goal ( a very modest goal in fact...) at about 8 months out. So I have maintained my weight loss with ease for the last 7 months. I chose a higher goal than many sleevers for several reasons.... 1.) easier to maintain 2.) no lose skin. That's right people, I have no lose skin, my butt is still round and the girls are still perky! 3.) I am normal, curvy healthy and average. That's all I ever wanted! 4.) I wear normal sizes. I am in a 12 and as a nurse I wear medium scrub tops and large bottoms. I LOVE BEING NORMAL. (preop I was in 2x and 24s) I don't really care that my BMI is not "normal" it never will be, I am happy and healthy. My surgeon and primary agree I am in a great spot. So what do I eat? a typical day is about 2000 calories. I was eating 1400 a day for weight loss.... I got up to 1000 cals as soon as I could post op so I wouldn't tank my metabolism. I don't eat low fat anything, I don't drink diet anything, no sugar free toxic crap. I eat small and healthy amounts everything. I have a vanilla latte everyday.I eat cheese at least twice a day. I eat lots of fruit and veggies and of course Protein. I go out to eat, have dessert a few times per week. I eat like a healthy, normal person. I still have started a real workout routine at the gym... I have a fairly physical job as a nurse and I take the dog for walks all the time, I plan to workout at the gym this winter for health purposes. All in all my point is.... I am so happy I was sleeved!! below is a before and after.....:-) 47 swizzly, Dooter, sunshyn21 and 44 others reacted to this

BLSC 7 Posted November 4, 2012 LOVED YOUR STORY!! I am nine weeks out and down 37, eating between 800-900 a day most days. 500 just doesn't seem doable to me, not if I want to get balanced nutrition AND enjoy life. I am 50 so for me to lose that much is phenomenal! No possibility I could have done it without my sleeve. I look at this as a period to adjust to a new, long lasting, healthy lifestyle, not another deprivation diet. I know everyone has to find the path that works for them, but it's great to see someone on a path so similar to mine who has been so successful. You go girl! 2 kmwheel and FishingNurse reacted to this

p77tmey 15 Posted November 4, 2012 Thank you for this. I am three years post op and hadn't found much feedback on if I'm eating too many calories. I am up there with you (cal intake) and couldn't figure out how I'd survive on 800 cal/day! 1 FishingNurse reacted to this
wdrake_98 22 Posted November 4, 2012 This is a great post. I've been very concerned about losing too much weight too quickly as I want to keep my curves and don't want loose skin either. I look forward to eating like normal people lol. So do you have any issues with any food types? 1 FishingNurse reacted to this
Futureskinnyperson 29 Posted November 4, 2012 Great Post and you look and sound incredibly happy! I too do not follow some very low calorie program as I personally think that is very unhealthy! I admire you for embracing your curves and realizing that your goal was simply to feel better and that number do not define if you have succeeded! I am at 4 months today and have lost 65 pounds! I also feel incredible but know that I am not quite there yet. I did have a goal of 175 lbs, but now that I am at 210 lbs, I am not certain I will need to get there to feel like my weight lose is done. I plan on seeing how I feel. Thank you for sharing your philosophy and pictures! Nicely done! 2 kmwheel and FishingNurse reacted to this

Debvzw 48 Posted November 5, 2012 Thank you for this post. I am 8 months out and I eat between 1000 and 1400 calories a day. I exercise 5 - 6 days a week. I have never had a stall and I consistently lose at least 2 lbs. week. I am down 114 lbs and I'm loving my sleeve! My surgeon would prefer at I only eat 500 - 800 calories a day but I just can't do it. I don't understand how people do it. I am happy with my weight loss the way it is and I'm glad to see I'm not alone. Thanks again for the post. 3 kmwheel, Butterthebean and FishingNurse reacted to this
hopeful77 2 Posted November 5, 2012 At what point were you able to take in more food without feeling that awful food stuck in your throat feeling? I'm three weeks out and feeling so abnormal...you look awesome by the way! 1 FishingNurse reacted to this
