Strangefruit 179 Posted November 4, 2012 My favorite pre op snack was a piece of lite cabot cheese (50 cal), 6-7 almonds and 2-3 olives... How long before you were allowed to eat nuts? I am 3 weeks post op... Thanks.
Threetimesacharm 1,400 Posted November 4, 2012 I don't think nuts are on the agenda for quite a while. I am 8 weeks and will not be eating nuts. IMO it should be 3 months or more. Check with your doctor.
RareGold3000 185 Posted November 4, 2012 I was allowed at 4 weeks once I was on 'regular food'. All surgeons have their own schedule. I was 2 weeks full liquids, then 2 weeks pureed/soft foods and at 4 weeks was allowed to have a regular diet. I never had a problem with them, and am now 2 1/2 months post op. LaBelle509 326 Posted November 4, 2012 I was allowed nuts at five months only because I was not meeting my caloric needs. 1-2 oz per day. I usually can handle a handful of peanuts after my mid day Protein Shake.< /p>
COnative 192 Posted November 4, 2012 Good question. I am a little over two months and occasionally eat pistachios. Haven't had any trouble. I think moderation is the key. But like everyone said above- every doctor is different with his recommendations.
delta_girl 931 Posted November 4, 2012 I have already tried canned boiled peanuts that you can get at the grocery store. They are super soft right out of the shell. The down sides are that they are incredibly high in sodium and the whole can packs a huge number of calories.
