My insurance requires me to enter their weightloss program 12mths before approving surgery. They give you a weightloss coach, and you have to be also enrolled in a weight program such as WW. Well, initially I joined the program not to have surgery, but to get the added benefit of having a weight coach and nutritionist to see if it would help me in my battle to lose weight.

I've been battling since I was 13 and I'm 34 now. I'm tired of dieting and can't seem to leave the carbs alone. Since joining this forum, I've seen successes and desire to also have that same success. I'm diabetic, have high blood pressure and cholesterol. I've had family members die young because of these diseases, and don't want to enter that fate. I've started thinking seriously about going through with the surgery and getting sleeved.. But, I'm having a hard time now getting my eating habits together, and don't know how things will turn out with the sleeve.

I don't want it to be a failure....

I'm just scared and don't know what I should do. I'm feeling upset with myself because I am having a hard time getting it together. :(

I can really identify, and I'm sure just about everyone else here also does. My whole life was just one long chain of "diet" failures that resulted in gaining more weight. At one point I got so sick of trying to lose weight, I stopped trying. You can imagine how that turned out. I didn't start taking anything seriously until I had to do my two week pre-surgery diet. Now, two weeks after surgery, I've had some pretty amazing results. Once I made the decision to give myself a pretty serious tool in my weight loss fight, I found that all that for the first time in years, I actually wanted to do the right things because my mindset has changed from "this will be great until it fails like everything else" to "I now feel like I can be in control".

The fear is normal. Sleeving is a huge step, but don't let that fear hold you back from doing what is best for you, no matter what that is. You're in the right place to talk to people about this kind of stuff, and you've got a weight loss coach who has probably heard anything you're going to say from other people just like you. Just know that in all this, you're not alone :)

Thank you guys. Right now my biggest issue is meal planning. I'm wondering how i'm going to plan to eat if I decide to have the sleeve. I just don't want to do something drastic and not follow through with what it takes. This board has been very helpful to me.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
