atlchick 42 Posted July 28, 2013 I would loooove to go to PV if I had the money. The plane tickets were higher and also I would have had to get a passport instead of the passport card- which was much cheaper. When you're on a budget these little things add up. But if I had the money right now, I would go to PV! Well I am definitely on a budget so that will be a huge factor too or I would have just done it here in the US. I did look at the plane tickets and they are more also for sure. I will likely be borrowing from my 401k but I can only borrower a certain percentage so will likely have to come up with the difference so we shall see what I can do I figured the cost is what is sending most people to TJ. I have been telling my hubby that a lot of people are going and no one is expressing concerns of safety etc etc.
atlchick 42 Posted July 28, 2013 I also think it has to do with location as well. I chose a Dr. with a '9' rating and I went to Tijuana which and the hospital was clean and the care was outstanding. The hotel was great as well...and the cost was considerably less because of the location. Take your time and do your research and go with what your gut tells you. Good luck. How do you find these ratings you are talking about? I have also seen people say complication rates. Is there a website that helps with these questions-a partial website? AmyInOrlando 348 Posted August 7, 2013 I chose Dr. Alvarez in Piedras Negras, MX. He was on the "higher end", and I paid $8700. I chose him because I was unable to find anything negative about him in everything I read. I watched very many of his YouTube videos and I wanted to be in a hospital rather then a recovery house. I was not disappointed. He and his staff were extremely attentive and all my needs were attended to. I'm a Nurse, so I tend to be hypercritical. I would definitely refer him to any friends or family that were considering this procedure. 3 gamergirl, Jenni77 and Getting Wispy reacted to this

Doesn't get much harder to impress than Nurse Mom. A mom for 33 years and a nurse for 25+ years! She's even recommending Dr. Aceves to inquiring co-workers and family. Mexico WLS was a HOT topic amongst everyone we know.... :-)
