H~E~L~P :blink: :blink: :blink: :blink: Ok I'm so darn confused. I have not started seeing a nutritionist yet, they may answer this. But I'm wanting to know which is better, what is the difference between the 2. I have been told that Soy is good for women but that's all I have heard. If you all would be so kind to explain the difference. Thank you in advance for all your help :}

Whey Protein is the best Protein supplement for the human body without exception. It is easily digestable & contains all amino acids in the proper amounts. There are several grades of whey. Whey protein isolate is the most preferred, it has more protein per gram than any other.

I do not recommend soy as a primary protein source. It is ok here and there but that's about it. It doesn't contain all amino acids used in the human body, it does however contain all essential amino acids. This for most people wouldn't be a problem, but since we aren't eating a full diet, chances are we are not getting all the nutrients the body needs to manufacture the deficient amino acids. Another thing to consider is soy increases the amount of estrogen in your system, again not typically a problem. But, you are dropping weight. Fat stores estrogen, as the fat melts off, the estrogen is dumped into your bloodstream. Then add to that the boost of estrogen from soy, ummmmm, moody much?

You must have some sort of milk allergy.

I found Dr Mercola's website very informative. The Protein Powder sold there sounded a lot heathier to me than most of the others.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
