Hey guys - wondering if anyone has had hot chocolate (will use skim plus of course). Getting chilly here in NY & was dreaming of something nice & warm. Don't know how the sleeve will like it. Anyone try it yet? Was sleeved on 9/17..thanks!

Oh yea! I'm almost 5 weeks postop and I have been indulging in the SwissMiss Diet hot chocolate made with water-I add a little squirt of whip topping spray to the top and it is awesome!!

Only 25 calories and tastes like the real deal.

I agree, the Swiss Miss Diet or No Sugar Added are good ways to go. I don't do the whip, but to each their own.

You're far enough out to try it and see how you tolerate it.

Drinking a cup of sugar free as I type, I am 10 1/2 weeks post op, but had it at around 7 weeks out. It's chilly in PA as well!!! It's great on a chilly night for sure.

I LOVE my hot chocolate!! That helped me a lot when i was first pre-op and getting dehydrated. And a dash of whipped cream tops it off!!

I use Nestle's fat free. It's in a canister. It does have a bit more sugar, but I use Water instead of milk so the carb total is low. And to me, this one tastes the best. For ME, if i'm going to indulge in something now (and for the rest of my life) I am going high quality.

I wish I could find a Protein Powder that didn't clump in hot beverages, that would be perfect for hot chocolate!

You might also try a hot sugar free apple cider by alpine. It has warmed me up quite nicely, with the heat radiating from stomach outward. It is very low cal also.

I highly recommend Healthwise Protein hot chocolate. It is allowed by my doc in the first two weeks after surgery -- counts as a full liquid. Very low carb, 15 g protein. There are lots of flavors: original, raspberry, mocha, mint, amaretto, etc. It's VERY good.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
