I almost lost my doxie last month. She isn't even two yet' date=' but apparently has immune mediated thrombocytopenia. She had zero clotting factor and starting bruising everywhere and bleeding from every orfice. One amazing vet, 2 weeks hospitalization, and a couple thousand dollars later and she's in remission.[/quote']

Wow. That sounds serious. If you want any suggestions to help her feel more comfy i can give you some tips on PM. I am a Certified Tellington TTOuch Practitioner. We concentrated on behavior issues and when an animal is suffering.

How is she now? .

I have a great pyrenees who is 3.5 yrs old and OMG she sheds big time. It drives me insane. I love to wear black and her fur is like cotton and it sticks to everything. I take her to the groomers about once a month to have them get most of the shedding hair. She's such an amazing dog though and extremely loyal. I've had her since she was 5 weeks old and she actually fit in the palm of my hand. Now she's a large breed q-tip lol. I'm not shedding yet (knock on wood) but I'm sure it will suck.

She's doing well now but really putting on weight with the steroids. I worry about the long term affects that will have on her back. I don't know how to restrict her diet any more than we already do. She gets 1/4 cup morning and night. But she often leaves some of that untouched.

Yep! I sure have been. From what I understand, Biotin helps w regrowth, not hair loss. And I only was lacking Protein for 5 days post op. So, I did everything right!!

Doxies are so unique. Wire hairs are usually totally clowns! I prefer the LH's 'mostly' mellower personalities.

My two wire hairs are total nuts! One's named killer the other pepper and the names suits them to a TEE! Killer (my son named him) will chase after you barking then when you turn around he runs away haha and Pepper just barks at anything and everything and tries to attack it. We also have a resque dog it's a large dog and she is scared of the two wire hairs! I started out with two Dachshunds then I had a friend who was a breeder and he passed away so I took his dogs because i didnt want to see them go to the pound. I found good homes for most of them but kept 5. My house is really their house we just pay the bills!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
