December Sleevers - Unite!

Recommended Posts

OK, I got my surgery date...December 11! Now it's real for me. How are you guys handling the anticipation? What's your pre-op routine? I start a liquid diet on Nov. 26. I get a "normal" Turkey day but Christmas will be liquid. Thanksgiving seems to be more of an eating day in my family than Christmas so I think I will be just fine. Maybe I will let everyone else wait on me for a Christmas present. That would be a first for this big time mom and grandma :-)

Danni, I think you could try being "frail" too and see if you can get some pampering. Hey, it might just work

I don't have a date officially but December is the month I'm shooting for as I have time off from work. Good luck everyone and I pray I am among the Dec Sleevers!

I'm dec 3rd!!! I think by Christmas my frail act everyone will be over it and will ignore me

Darn, you could be right. But maybe you could get out of helping put up the outside decorations - if you live in a cold climate. Hey, there has to be a bit of a perk here for 5 holes in your middle. lol.

Remember your ten pound lifting limit...that means...NO LAUNDRY LOL. Mine was extended an extra six weeks due to complications. I haven't done laundry since August :). Heh heh.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
