It looks like I will have to put off surgery for now, in order to save up paid leave time off. The good thing is that the insurance company has offered to put me on the fast-track for the surgery, due to some comorbitities, so I know when the time comes it won't be a problem getting the okay from them.

I just had a total knee replacement and had to have a second procedure to get rid of scar tissue, fortunately able to borrow sick leave...which now has to be paid back, of course. Just grateful to have had it. It will be about 9 months before I have enough time built up to have the surgery (barring anything else coming up in the interim).

This forum is much appreciated, and I am learning a lot!

incredible ShrinkingViolet

what a great attitude you have :)

having to delay your WLS for about 9 months :( - not complaining, even though you are probably disappointed

what a mess about finances, sick leave :( , glad insurance will still be there for you :)

hope you are recovering nicely from knee replacement :)

take care

next year you will be on your way to count down for the sleeve :)

good luck

Thanks, Grammy! Looks like you are very close to your goal...good for you! How have you been feeling through all this.I have seen some of yhour posts and it looks like you have a lot of good advice to give. Being a newbie here, I have a lot to learn yet.

ISV - nice to hear you are taking this slowly and know you will follow through later on. Think of how much you will know when your time comes around.

Think of it like planning for a wedding. One month's notice is never enough but 9 months, how beautiful.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
