I was allowed to eat "thin" oatmeal when I moved to full liquids. It was recommended to add plain Protein powder to it, in order to make it a source of high-protein. I have chosen to not eat it, because I am very conscious of the amount of carbs I eat every day....and oatmeal is very high in carbs, compared to other food options. If you're program information doesn't mention oatmeal specifically, I would highly recommend you check with your surgeon or nutritionist before having some.

All the best!

Laura

Oatmeal is a good food option. There are some high Protein oatmeals out there or you can add unflavor protein power. I add nuts and dried fruit and spenda. Oatmeal is a good source of Fiber.< /p>

You just gotta stay away from adding a lot of butter, sugar or cream to it. Oatmeal is great for digestion and cholesterol control

I'm a lazy cook, so I have packets of the Quaker Weight Control Oatmeal in my cupboard. When I am really craving carbs I will sometimes eat a packet, but not every day. Probably once or twice every week or two: http://www.quakeroats.com/products/hot-cereals/weight-control/weight-control-variety-pack.aspx

I have a serving of oatmeal almost every day. Haven't had any problems with it and can barely eat the small package it comes in. It really helps with my digestion (if you know what I mean ;-)

I'm not sleeved but I asked my nut this question bc I eat steel cut oats and she said it was fine. I plan on adding Protein Powder to it as well.

It's also good with just oats, cinnamon, banana, and a few crushed walnuts. I have a sweet tooth so I add some splenda as well.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
