I have yet to have my Sleeve.

But, I have had my Abdomen opened from top to bottom, twice.....

the Staple removal is no more than a little pinch. Nothing to be worried or scared of:-)

A pinch. Easy. They use a tool like a weird staple remover that lift the staples up and out. If it REALLY hurts, help by holding down around the area. I've had two knee replacements and around 25 staples on each knee. The ones on my belly were easy removal. Honestly. It LOOKS scarier than it is.

Not everyone has staples. My doctor used glue and steri-strips. You should ask so you know what to expect.

Yeah no one told me what to expect! I thought it was going to be glue and the strips and woke up to 9 staples :o and the worst part is that that I'm having a bit of a reaction to the staples like my incision is fine but where the staples are is a bit red :/

wnicoleb, mine were a bit read around the staples too. The actual incision looks nicely healed but all of my little staple holes have a small bit of red around them. My surgeon said they looked good and I had them removed Tuesday. Since then everything is healing up nicely. They itch a lot but nothing that drives me crazy.

The removing was very easy. Just a slight tug and out they come. I'll admit it was a little sore after but again nothing more than a pain level of 1.

I had no clue what was under the Water tight bandage until my surgeon took them off. It kinda felt like staples under there but wasn't sure.

Perhaps they use staples when it looks like the glue and strips won't hold?

Good question. I am in the waiting room now about to get mine out. It cant be worse than c-section staples.

Done. Easy. And I even had a tricky one that didnt want to come out. Nothing compared to that dang drain. That thing almost killed me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
