The Dr. said I am fine how ever my stomach fat is pulling on my incisions so much that it is terribly painful!

I am still taking pain medication... using ice packs and still resting. I am 10 days out. Does anyone have a simple suggestion of that I can do? I don't want to take the Vicodin anymore. I want to be back to normal for my kids sake!

Thanks for your help in advance :)

Try an abdominal binder. You can get them at babies or drug stores. It helped me a lot.

Make sure you rest and don't bend down/over. I had pulled stitches that tore my muscle. The binder made my back hurt and then when I took the binder off it was an excruciating, I want to pass out kinda pain!

I used a binder, however the pain didn't go away until my stitches were pulled. I was allergic to them. I developed some redness and two raised areas. I had them removed 11 days postoperative. And I am now 2 weeks out.

I only had one incision that was really pulling. I put on some of those more elastic support panties and used heat on the area. Really helped.

The belly binders for pregnant women work well and are comfy.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
