I had. Surgery on 10/9 and my original off work order is through Nov. 6th. I see my surgeon on Nov. 8th to get a final release and I know there is no way I am ready to go back to work so I plan on talking to my surgeon and saying I need 6 weeks. I have no idea how people go back a week or two after surgery. Good luck andI really hope your nausea gets better.

I'm so sorry y'all are having such a hard time and not feeling well. I was back to work at 1 week. Was pretty tired out at the end of each day, but did well. I am 2 1/2 weeks post op now. Hope things get better for you soon.

I had the surgery 10-17, throughout my pre-op I was told I would be out only 2 weeks. I'm a Rural Mail Carrier and my job is very physical, especially with all this political mail (imagine all the stuff you're getting times 700-800 homes!). I was so anxious about it, stressing until my surgeon asked when did I want to go back, it wasn't a big deal, The truth is, you now what your job requires and you know what your body is is up for now, listen to yourself and relax. Take care of yourself and I hope the issues with naseua resolves itself soon!

My surgery was 10/1 and my surgeon assured me I would be ready to return to work in 2 weeks- I knew better and requested 4. Then after surgery I ended up in pain for 4 weeks and had to ask for 2 more weeks. It would have been so much easier to just expect 6 weeks and if able sooner- Great. My expectations had me freaking out!

everyone heals differently, do not blame yourself if it takes longer to recover. i heard 3 weeks is typical but it depends how long the days are. one thing i struggle with is not being able to eat enough and working long hours. its been 4 weeks for me and i just returned to work but its been hell! i feel weak and everything aches. good luck to you guys hope your feeling better.

My surgeon said I should be off for two weeks and should be able to return to work with no problems (I have a sedentary desk job), however my boss encourged (insisted really) that I take three weeks off, longer if needed.

sorry your feeling bad, I was one of the lucky ones that didnt really need the time off , felt great after surgery. I did however take the two weeks alloted by my Doctor to learn how to drink my Water and get my protien in before returning to work note that I am now 8 weeks out and feel tired on occasion from long work days......

Now my sister whom also had surgery , was very sick and took 3 weeks off and then worked from home for another 3 weeks because she felt really bad and couldnt work a whole day.

Everyone heals differently so I say take the time you need to heal no use being miserable at work..... also are you taking nausea meds ? maybe trying a different one would at least help with the nausea and cramping...

I feel that getting busy and active was important to my fast recovery. My surgeon/doctor said that immediately after surgery there were NO restrictions. He repeated that over and over each time I spoke with him and he says that at all of his seminars. He was not referring to nutrition in that statement, just activity level, going back to work, exercising, driving, resuming a normal life. NO restrictions. He has done somewhere around 3,000 + bariatric procedures and has the Center for Excellence in Bariatric Surgery distinction, so he has refined his skill and has a lot of data. He is very confident in his communications of expectations. I'm only speaking of my doctor with these statements, though. Your doctor may have less experience, may be refining his skill level, may not have access to the same resources, or any of dozens of other reasons why he/she advises you as they do. Whatever the reason, do what your doctor tells you to do.

I am a teacher and scheduled 3 weeks off. My doctor's office got the FMLA paperwork and insisted that I schedule 4 and then I can return early if I feel up to it.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
