Questions? 18 Posted October 31, 2012 I am 6 weeks out and kind of panicked at about 3 1/2 weeks or so because I didn't feel full like I thought I would (based on everybody's stories in this forum) but about a week ago things changed almost as if it was overnight the fullness and inability to eat more than a couple of bites before feeling satisfied happened. Hang in there a little while longer.
smithpy 117 Posted November 1, 2012 Man' date=' I'm on the opposite end as the OP. I wish I didn't feel constantly full. Since I'm only 6 days post-op I'm still in the stage of forcing myself to try to get my fluids in... and failing miserably (yesterday finally got up to 36 oz total -- still way low). I know it will slowly progress, but for now I can;t even imagine eating actual food. And like Jonathan I slipped up last night when I woke up and went to the fridge to get some water: poured it in a regular cup and instinctively took two semi-big gulps before realizing what I was doing -- OUCH!!! My stomach wailed angrily at me and I definitely made a promise to myself not to sleepwalk anymore <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />[/quote'] I did the same thing!!!! Filled a glass. It looked so refreshing that I lost my head and took a big swig. It felt like the Water hit a plug. That brought me back to reality and I spit out the rest of the Water. Freaked me out.
smithpy 117 Posted November 1, 2012 Now that I can drink full liquids and get more liquids down I feel guilty for drinking so much. Also on Clear Liquids I was losing 2 lbs a day, but I've slowed to 1 lb a day since starting full liquids. I'm I doing everything right?
Mslnzee2010 83 Posted November 1, 2012 Protein is the key. I really like Premier Protein. I get it at my local Sam's Club. It is the best tasting that I have found. It is also premixed so you don't end up with all that extra air from the shaker bottle. Thanks I'm going to have to try this. I am trying something new today making sure I get all the Protein in at least 70grams that is the task for today.

Katie713 423 Posted November 1, 2012 As some have already stated, you won't feel the real sensation of fullness until you move to solids, then believe me you will feel full and you will feel your restriction. Fluids don't give the sensation of fullness as they slide through your stomach without much effort (even though it can be hard to drink - but that's because of swelling near the top of the stomach) but when your fluids hit the bottom of your stomach near the pylorus, the stomach empties quite quickly. When you move to mushies - it will feel feel better, and when you move to full solids, even better. You will get full on very little and although you may experience head hunger, your body will have the feeling of satisfaction. Good luck!!
