Piplula 709 Posted October 31, 2012 Ok so some of you have been following me in regards to my gums that have been causing me problems. So I got back my pathology report, and here's the verdict: lichen planus- an inflammatory condition that affects mucous membranes. It is not passed from person to person. It is an immune disorder that occurs when the immune system attacks the cells of the oral mucous membranes. Apparently, it's a chronic condition and the reason for the abnormal immune response is unknown. So I guess I have a super efficient immune system that doesn't know when to stop..LOL. It is treatable, but it is something I will be living with and treating for the rest of my life. And that's better to have than cancer of the mouth! Funny enough..it affects middle-aged women...oh well! Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes...it was definitely appreciated! 2 abetterme4.2 and Ms skinniness reacted to this

I am just happy to know that I will be around for a long while! My fear was that it was oral cancer, but thankfully it wasn't, so given a choice..I will definitely take what I have! Thank you for all the support, I needed it!
