Eating Only Twice A Day?

Recommended Posts

I met with my surgeon today and told him my weight loss a has slowed down this week. After a larger 25 lbs loss I think at week 3/4 this is okay.

He told me me I should only eat 2 and at the most 3 times a day and nothing in between. Seemed to radical to me, not sure I want to do that. I understand grazing is bad. But geez.

What are your thoughts. I am hungry or eating something every couple hrs now. I want to fuel my metabolism and exercise. I am walking.

Did he give you specific reasons why he suggests you eat this way? My surgeon and nutritionist suggest I eat 5 small meals daily which, right or wrong, I interpret as 3 main meals with two Snacks.< /p>

To continue to loose and not slow down. He said if I eat too much I won't. He asked if I was eating less than pre op and I'm like yes I no longer have that capacity. And I have lost 45 lbs in 5 weeks since pre op. I was a bit annoyed with him.

I think that eating 800 calories a day one month post op is reasonable with three meals and two Snacks and still loose with exercise.

Surgeon thinks I should loose another 40 lbs by Christmas... 275 to 235. A lot of pressure today.

Yeesh! I'd be happy if I lose 20 lbs by then. I'm not sure these surgeons know what they are talking about. At my 1 week f/u my surgeon bitched me out for not going to the gym?!? A lot of us are emotional eaters; the extra judgements and stress aren't helpful.

My master plan is to make this a liveable lifestyle change. Eating only twice a day and working out an hour every day may give you results, but not everyone can sustain that long-term. The sleeve is our tool, ultimately we need to make sure we use it in the right way for us.

I was told 4-6 small meals every 3-4 hours. At 7 months out I couldn't get even close to my Protein goal if I only ate 2 meals. Are you supposed to be using a Protein Shake as a meal?? The first 5 1/2 months I had a protein shake as my Breakfast.< /p>

Yea I would think with 2 meals you would still be drinking Protein Shakes at least twice daily maybe 3

I'm three months po. I eat about 900 calories now. My surgeon/NUT say three meals and two Snacks. I was having a hard time getting veggies because I'd get full so my NUT said drop last snack and eat second dinner. I have never had a stall. I workout most days. I drink my Water. If you don't get enough calories you will stall. When I'm consistently more hungry, I go back to basics: Protein first (think meat/dense). Then veg. Then fruit. Then complex carbs.

I think your surgeon is whacked. Lol.

Eat for health and wellness. You can't eat enough calories in two meals. You know that. Follow your instincts on this one. :eye roll:

You aren't able to eat enough when you're so early out, to hold you long enough to only eat 3 times a day, let alone 2 times a day. Eat Protein when you're hungry, and don't worry if your weight loss has slowed. Everyone slows down at some point, and then it picks back up again. It's normal.

I agree... Its esp hard if your surgeon has NEVER had an issue with weight and is naturally thin! He says he understands, but I really don't think he can...

Thank you for understanding. He really pissed me off.

Getting pissed Is ok but Don't stay pissed. Get cocked and loaded. Do what you have to. U will lose as your body allows you to. I'm sure you will do what you need to do. This is your life journey.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
