Guess that makes me a weirdo! Lol[/quote'] My friend had a DS and we have the same surgeon. He uses the DaVinci and because of that he got surgery pictures. I hope hope hope I get the same pictures! I really believe my stomach is much larger than normal. I wanna see it, too. If we're weird for that, that's ok with me
Jesser 295 Posted October 31, 2012 I believe mine is too because no matter how much I eat, I'm never full! So, I wanna see how big that sucker is!!! Haha
lizv123 389 Posted October 31, 2012 Me too! I can eat more than a man and just keep going. I really don't know what full is! I keep getting this picture in my head of my removed stomach sagging from the surgeon's hands like a slab of pizza dough haha
Jesser 295 Posted October 31, 2012 Lol I wonder just how much the stomach can actually stretch??? Mine is probably at maximum capacity by now...
lizv123 389 Posted October 31, 2012 Lol I wonder just how much the stomach can actually stretch??? Mine is probably at maximum capacity by now... Mine HAS to be! They say it can be 2 liters when full? I think that's how big mine is when it's empty!
5DogMa 62 Posted October 31, 2012 We saw my daughters and even took a picture of it. It was huge! They have it filled with gas. They said her's was extra long and it took 2 more staple cartridges than normal and an extra 15 minutes in the OR. So we figure that's why she can eat more than I can can and she never felt full before the VSG. Let me know if you want to see the picture of it. Kinda cool to see that came out. 1 amytug reacted to this
Holly5.3 423 Posted October 31, 2012 My surgeon gave me a little photo album of pictures taken during the surgery. I couldn't look at them close up for a while, too gory for me! My stomach looked huge but they didn't have pictures after it was cut or stapled, but there are photos of the hernia repair, which looked like a crazy person went wild in there with black thread! (I told him my Grandmother was a seamstress for Bergdof-Goodman and is rolling in her grave with that kind of sewing going on!-lol!) I wish I could see a before and after sonogram or something to see difference in size after surgery. I bet mine was big, but I suffered from gastritis for so long I'm hoping that will be forever gone with my stomach!
AmandaRaeLeo 2,146 Posted October 31, 2012 I want to see it. I think it would be cool! Amanda Rae
gaye jarvis 751 Posted October 31, 2012 My surgeon took pics during the entire procedure and gave me a copy, he said I had the biggest stomach that he had seen in all the surgerys he has done (he has done over 2500 so far), leave it to me to break a record! That is amazing! Does anyone know the size of average stomach compared to a large (Gaye's record breaking size!) one. My surgeon said it goes from shape of a football to that of a banana. A football! Really? That seems huge!
iggychic 1,405 Posted October 31, 2012 Your stomach is about ten inches long (average) and the size of your closed fist when empty. When full it can hold up to 4 liters
Holly5.3 423 Posted October 31, 2012 Your stomach is about ten inches long (average) and the size of your closed fist when empty. When full it can hold up to 4 liters Thanks, Iggy. My surgeon also said it's very elastic, like a nylon sock. When they remove the portion of it, it's empty and deflated so they can pull it out. But it stretches (and stretches) to accommodate food and over-eating. Very interesting! 1 chad2rad reacted to this
iggychic 1,405 Posted October 31, 2012 That's that four liter capacity Most people's stomach stretches to the size of their hand open on average, but they can go further! Maybe you were in the four liter category
Holly5.3 423 Posted October 31, 2012 I dont know. I could never really eat a lot, it's more what I ate. Certain foods were starting to bother me so I avoided them for about the past 10 months, like pizza. I love it, it hates me! But I certainly made up for lost calories by filling up on bread. I could live on toast and butter! I hope to stay far, far away from bread until I make my goal. Easier said than done, I'm sure!
