Sell Whatever You Have To Sell And Buy A Vitamix!

Recommended Posts

Sleeved last week and after brief pre op diet am already sick of Protein shakes! We just bought a vitamix today for about $400- and I am certain that this blender is gonna be the key to this diet being doable. My wife has already used it twice today to make two of the best Soups I have ever tasted, and they are high protein and low fat! I can not believe I dropped that much $$$ on a blender, but it is likely the best money I have ever spent. So buy one, even if you have to scrounge the cash- it will be worth it- especially during liquid and smooth phases. If you read reviews you will notice that I am not alone in my wonder- and I am not normally easily impressed- especially with expensive stuff.

Is it that much better than an immersion (stick) blender? What makes it better than a normal blender? Do you think you'll use it much when you're several weeks out & able to eat "real" food?

Just curious as I've been thinking about getting one.

A few things make it remarkable. Top 2 to me are

1. It literally can cook Soup in the blender in 4-6 minutes. U put cold ingredients in the blender and 5 minutes later u have hot Soup.< /p>

2. It will chop ice so it is ultra smooth, and u can put fruit in the blender whole seeds and all!

I was happy with my bullet. Now I am 8 weeks post op so I use my bullet just for my shakes. I have no knowledge of this blender.

the vitamix is the best. Way better than immersion blender. My sister got me hooked and she has been using hers for a few years. My other sister bought one last year refurbished from the company - I got mine from costco.

I still use my immersion blender for some things but I love the vitamix and think you will enjoy it!

I LOVE my vitamix. Yes folks made fun of me paying that much for a BLENDER, but trust me, it is much more than that. I see if being used al lthe time on the food network programs on TV, like Iron Chef and Chopped, etc. It reminders me of the old timex watches..... they take a licking but keep on ticking.

It even comes with a 7 yr warranty.

There will come a point where you will want to eat "solid" foods to maintain your satiety.

I am on solid food and still use mine for making Protein shakes when I want to make a thicker, frothier shake. I use it for marinades, hummus, etc.

I have been a long time Vita-mix feind. I grew up with one, and when I got married, it was the first thing my parents bought me for my new kitchen. It is AMAZING! I use it to make the mothest pina coladas, and margaritas. It's a MUST for entertaining huge parties and making mixed drinks. It also has a special container with blades made to make flour. I've made my own powder sugar and flours for years. Whipped cream, in an instant. Lemonade, just toss in whole lemons sugar (or splenda) Water and blend, it pulverizes the pulp, seeds and all, you'd have no idea you were drinking lemon rind and seeds (good for fiber) if I didn't tell you. I'm pretty sure I sound like a commercial now, lol.

Yes, I am/was a HUGE baker and entertainer, I was just sleeved almost a month ago, and this is STILL my one and only blender love. I may not use it in the future for the same reasons I've used it in the past, but I have been a fan before the sleeve, and I have no doubts I will continue to be a fan. Aside from Soups in an instant, it can also make ice cream/fro yo instantly also. It really is amazing.

When my best friend got married, I researched the vita mix and the blend-tech for a wedding gift, I ended up getting them the vita-mix, but blend tech seems amazing too. If you spend this much on a blender, it really is, IMO, worth it, and an investment you will not regret.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
